Electropolishing
Electropolishing is a subtractive electrochemical process for smoothing components: the workpiece is connected as the anode in a material-specific electrolyte, so material is removed from the surface without mechanical load. Protruding peaks, burrs, corners and edges are preferentially leveled, reducing surface roughness and eliminating microcracks and local stresses. The surface becomes smooth and glossy while the component's overall shape is preserved. The process is suitable for stainless steels, brass, aluminium and copper, among others.
