Hybrid components
Hybrid components are metal-plastic assemblies, i.e. components made up of both materials in a composite bond – often plastic parts with a metal surface, or metal parts overmoulded with plastic. The material combination unites the advantages of both: the plastic structure keeps weight low, while the metal surface provides an attractive appearance, pleasant haptics and often additional wear protection through a scratch-resistant surface. Hybrid components / metal-plastic composite systems are mainly used in lightweight construction (automotive), communications and electrical engineering, aerospace, and the consumer goods industry.
